Edna Robinson left her home country with the hopes of finding new opportunities for herself and creating a bright future for her son.
Robinson was a native of Jamaica, a small island located in the West Indies, while she loved her country. She knew that there were not many ways for her to raise her son the way she wanted. She left her country and her family which included her son who had not reached his first birthday.
Once she left it took her five years before she was able to reunite with her son Patrick, who only knew her as a voice over the phone. When they met Patrick’s first words to his mother were “Hi mommy.”
